winter light
I think I’m making peace with winter. We got eighteen inches of snow in Minneapolis last weekend (enough to make the Metrodome cave in), and while that normally would drive me crazy with cabin fever, I really surprised myself with how peaceful I felt just staying inside. I slept a lot, cooked a lot, and took a lot of pictures in that lovely pale light that we only get on...
playing with tumblr
(grassdoe)
Sorry if it’s been bizarre round here lately - I’ve been playing around with tumblr themes and wreaking havoc on the site in the process. Back to normal for now.

I know that calling snowstorms hideous sounds grumpy since they are very pretty and fun to play in, but snowstorms are not fun to drive in and since here in Minneapolis we inevitably get eight...
gift guide 2010: 10 under $50
Okay, so it is officially December. December 2nd, to be exact - am I the only one who feels like this month snuck up on us? I mean, sure, I’ve been thinking about what I want, but the massive project of actually making a list and checking it twice and getting thoughtful gifts and loving cards together for my nearest and dearest is still in what I like to call the Conceptual Phase.
I am...
the thanksgiving antidote
I don’t know where you are, but here in the US it was Thanksgiving last Thursday. Thanksgiving is best described as a giant feast of epic proportions, and although none of the individual components can be described as really unhealthy in moderation: a slice of pie, a bit of turkey, some vegetables alongside, somehow the meal (and the several meals of leftovers thereafter - temperance is...
